The Power of Search

The Twilight Series, there is a piece of useful information in the first movie. Edward Cullen says, “If you don’t believe me, Google it.” The power of the internet just keeps growing, which gives an opportunity to marketers to make more effective and personal marketing campaigns.

How many times a week do you think you use a search engine? Today, alone I used a search engine 12 times.
The most recent findings from Pew Internet & American Life tracking surveys and consumer behavior trends from the comScore Media Metrix consumer panel show that about 60 million American adults are using search engines on a typical day.” – Marketing Today http://bit.ly/ee8Zcb

A market research group that is 60 million strong, which is a wealth of information at a marketer’s finger tips. The ability to find out more information and quickly will allow marketers to adapt marketing campaigns and market segmenting, even faster. Marketers would also be able to link products from a company’s product line through other interests that consumers have and see if there is a possibility of another sale for that company. The possibilities are endless with the search engines! Consumers can find a large amount of information about a company they want to do business with and the company can find out about its consumers, to market to them in a personal and effective way.

  1. I personally believe that Google is one of the most incredible inventions of this century. It has become an essential resource to me in navigating the world. Any time I need information or to learn something I always pull up Google. While there are many search engines, I always find myself going to Google. As a corporation they have done an incredible job of branding themselves as the experts.

  2. I echo Meredith with my sentiments about Google. If I am on another computer, and Google is not the search engine, I automatically go to it. It has allowed us to have a working relationship with the Internet, and somehow digest the multitude of information we now have at our disposal. Google is also my choice because of the integrity that they maintain with their top results and using many extra measures to ensure they are the most credible, reliable and trusted sources for wanted information.

I remember living in Indiana only four years ago when I learned of a local number the state had that could be called day or night to get info on anything. It's amazing how many advancements have taken place over only a few short years, and how Google on my phone has taken the job of those people who sat in front of computers 24/7, ready to answer the call and any question you could dream.

  3. What's amazing to me is how much Google has branched out from being a dependable search engine, to becoming the internets' very own "swiss army knife." Although the main prominent feature of Google is its' search engine, all the other features are quickly gaining a foothold in their respective areas. For example while playing a game online with some friends from back home, instead of using Skype we thought it was easier to use Gmail's chat feature. Blogspot is the forum for our class blog. Even when we travel we are told to just use Google Maps to find the place. Google's evolution from search engine to all-in-one tool is not only astounding, but has turned it into one of the most powerful marketers on the planet.
